Well, now, that makes sense....
If you do lower it for the 22's & LP's, will you have to raise it again to put the stock tires back on? You could be looking at a butt load of work every fall and spring. Sorry, I can't help with your question, but I knew that someone would ask, and I wanted to be first...

damn i'm new here but i've noticed that people get really upset when someone wants to lower thier 4x4. whats the big deal everyone has different styles. i mean do these guys with big tires on thier trucks use an extension ladder to get in thier truck everyday
anyway this a good question cause i have an 04 fx4 screw and want to do 22's with 305/45's and lowering is something i was considering also so any input would appreciated

Before joining this site and FTW I had no idea that people bought 4x4's for reasons other than hunting and going through muddy farm land. Your idea sounds like it would work. Good luck.

well i bought my 4x4 cause i work construction and constantly need to pull up on sandy or muddy job sites, but i would still like to have 22 inch rims just not with big tires on them but i don't want rubberbands for tires either. 305/45's are perfect. my friend has a kingranch with 22's and 305/45's and its one of the nicest trucks i've ever seen
I am one of the apparent few that want to lower my 4x4 as well to fit on 22's a little better. Although you have a different year truck than mine, I have a '97, I have found a company that sells lowering keys and shackles for a 4x4. The kit is from a company named "Ground Force." I am not sure about your year F-150, but they sell it for the pre-04 models
well i got the 22's on the truck today and it really doesn't look bad guys. the rear of the truck deffinately needs to be lowered tho. someone told me that the rear block could be removed and the rear would drop 2 inches is this true? how hard would it be to remove that block? would i need to do any other modifications when i remove it? any help would be greatly appreciated.
True.
The rear blocks are approx 2". Apparintly taking them out is quite simple, if you do a search you'll find quite a few people that have done it, some with some walkthroughs I believe. The only thing extra you should need is the 4x2 U-Bolts as the 4x4 are too long and don't have enough threads.

thanks for the input i'll do a search, by the way would i get those u bolts from ford? how much do you think they cost?
I say get the drop shackle b/c u can lower it 1" or 2" just using the different holes on the shackle. That way if you still want to keep a little rack you can if not go full 2". Then if you want or need the truck lower you can then remove the blocks. The shackles will cost you like $50 or so.
