2001 Paint problem

Has anyone else experienced problems with their base coat paint. Mine is not the clear coat, it is in the base coat. It appears to be small cracks or separations in the paint.

I had one local dealer, in Knoxville, tell me it was a problem with Ford's paint, but when they sent pictures to Ford, they refused to do anything.

I went by the dealer where I bought the truck and they wouldn't even talk with me about it. They said I would have to contact Ford myself. (Obviously the last deal I make with this place)

I contacted Ford and they agree the paint is bad, but since I have 36,338 miles on my truck and it's out of waranty, they won't fix it.

I wonder what the $300.00 I paid the dealer for paint protection was for?

Anyway, I'd like to hear from anyone else that may be having this problem.

This is the wrong place to post this question, but I have a small amount of cracking under the tail lights on one side of my truck as well.

My 99's paint is pretty *****ty. Has these small 'cracks' all over the hood, roof, and down the sides some. Not very long, but there are millions of them. I also have spider-webbing in more than a few places.

Im guessing you have a black truck? This is the only color I have seen it on. I talked to a couple places, and talked about it on here, and it seems to be somewhat of a common problem. I called ford directley about it (talked to a damn guy I could hardly understand-could barely speak English-Im not racist or anything, but that was one thing that also pissed me off, I couldnt even talk to him. Dammit Ford, I wanna talk to someone who can speak English if I call the AMERICAN number!!!! /rant off/) anyway, what I did get from him, is that there isnt a darn thing they will do about it. No recalls, no fixes-nothing. Ive heard of people taking them to court, getting into it bigtime blah blah, and getting it repainted, but I didnt want to go through all that crap.
Ford has always kind of had paint problems though. Remember when they had all the peeling issues and made up some bs that it was 'the ozone'.

I had the same problem on my roof in the gutter wells. The base paint was cracked under the clear coat. Took it back to the dealer (had 23,000 on my 02) took some pics and they sent them to Ford. About a week later the dealer called me and Ford ok'd the repaint of the entire roof no cost to me. The dealer body shop stripped the roof and repainted havent had a problem since.
