Coils vs Time & Gravity

I installed 3" shorter coils in my 98 when new, Beltech I believe, nine years and 56,500 miles ago.
I swear they are getting shorter.
I have large tires that fill the front wells, and have always had a minor clearance issue, but cruise carefully, and don't mind it.
I really think the coils have gotten shorter...... is this possible? Anybody?

They did not get shorter. As they age metal fatigue causes them to sag. I had a brand new 96 Sable that I installed wider tires on. No rubbing at all. After 2 years the tires started to rub. The coils in front had sagged and allowed the tires to rub. Time for new springs.

I agree!

Ever wonder why racecar teams have spring rate checkers? They have hundreds to thousands of springs. All checked before and after each race and measure to the lb. All springs loose "rate" over their life.
