Best lift for my 2005 FX4

I have searched and read through many previous posts and still have not decided . I have narrowed down my choices to fabtech, pro comp, and skyjacker. The reason for this is due to the coil over replacements available for these lifts. I have a heavy bumper and winch and would like stronger springs or the strongest coil over set-up available on a 6 inch lift adjustable if possible. also, I thought these were bolt on systems but have found that you have to cut the lower control arm on both the fabtech and skyjacker, so I take it this would prevent from putting it back to factory specs(when the lift is removed). Also; my wheels/tires already stick out about 2 inches and I don't want the front to stick out any more than what they already are. Also I have read and was told that fabtech may wobble on 4hi while driving and may need modification to the front (driveshaft re-balance?)(That doesn't sound exciting). So I would like to get some opinions for those who know these systems. So if you could please place them in order from one to three of
The most reputable
The strongest coil over design with adjustability
The most clearance.(although they claim 6" they may differ?)
The best design, and strength.
Thanks

Im sorry i cant answer all your questions but im sure someone else can, BUT, I have a friend that has a f250 and he had the pro comp 6 inch lift on his truck for a while, but he switched to th e skyjacker and he told me the skyjacker is holding up alot better than the pro comp! Now my friend is a very heavy off roading guy so for him its the skyjacker. Also he has anything and everything you can add on a truck Grille Guard, winch in the front.

Hope this helps some.

Thanks, I contacted skyjacker through the phone(since they don't have e-mail) and they didn't seem to knowledgeable about their coilovers.Maybe it just seemed that way I also contacted fabtech and they said their coil-overs are somewhat adjustable but were not any more heavy duty for the extra weight and that I may have to re-balance my driveshaft to prevent wobble on 4hi; BUT they say "IT MAY WORK"I am starting to lean towards the Skyjacker but know alot of guys run fabtech and pro-comp. I did not want to cut anything on the truck but it looks like all these lifts need something removed in-order to BOLT-ON. I do want a skid plate but my main concern is load rating on their coilovers. Who has the highest load rating/spring rate of the 3?? Thanks for the reply.

depends on who you talk to at skyjacker. I called 2 different times yesterday because the first time I got some joker on the phone that wasn't willing to tell me much. Next time I got a nice guy. I'm going to start taking names and letting them know when I call in who is and is not helpful. I'm getting the same things happening at all of these companies. Some jerkoff on the phone that acts like he's just there and doesn't care what you want or what you do.

the picture in my signature say's it all!!!!! Pro Comp is a great lift, rides well and performs great. No problems at all to complain about! The only thing that happened was my alignment was off a little.

F150 vs. F250...there is a big difference!!! 90% of the people will use these lifted trucks a pavment beauties. So the main concern should not be how it holds up, it should be how well it rides. Just my opinion

I know that alot has to do with the way the kit was installed. I read a couple of posts about how some HAD the procomp and did not like it or had problems with it. I found this thread too.

I also don't want the spacer in the front, I need a heavy duty coil over system with adjustability. I am also looking into KING coilovers. I know alot of guys have them and are happy. Price is not an object for the lift if it is quality and provide a lifetime of hassle-free use. thanks

by the way your truck looks cool. Nice pics.

Thanks,. On previous posts I had looked into both these kits as well. The CST is nice but has lift blocks for the front, and the problem I have is the weight, so i definitely want a strong adjustable coilover system. and the RCD uses load bearing shocks which may or may not be good . I may have to use the lift of one company and the coilovers from a different manufacturer. I am waiting on www.kingshocks.com to respond to an e-mail and see if they carry anything for this application. Thanks for the reply.

I'm running the Skyjacker 3" on my company truck. 10,000 miles of mixed use and she rides exactly the same height as when I installed it.

The guys at Skyjacker are usually very nice and knowledgeable. If you get someone that can't help, move up the ladder. I don't believe their 6" is adjustable for height or damping, but I could be wrong.

Remember that racing coil overs are not designed for a heavy bumper hanging on them, be sure to ask the question!

I've been researching lift kits for the 04-up F-150's and managed to find install instructions for the Fabtech kit, Pro-Comp, Skyjacker, and Rancho. After reading all of them, this is what I found, all 4 kits require cutting off the frame bracket to facilitate lowering of the front diff. The fabtech, pro-comp, and skyjacker kits reuse the front coilovers but optional coilovers are available. The rancho does not include coilovers or extensions for the originals. All 4 kits use lift blocks for the rear, but the skyjacker has optional replacement rear leaf springs.

Thanks for all the info.. I had looked that into myself as well. I read that Pro comp is manufactured in India and that there have been a few issues with quality and with the service from 4 wheel parts. And the fabtech seems to be the only option that has coilover adjustability. If I can ever get in contact with someone from King about their coilovers I may go with a Rancho lift with King coilovers for the front. And if that is a NO GO, then I think I'll go with Fabtech with the coilovers like many others and take my chances. Fabtech did say that the front driveshaft would need to be rebalanced and modified to prevent vibration while in 4 HI mode. Thanks for the research and the info.
