Exclamation Rancho shocks: 5000 VS. RSX

I have a 2001 f150 5.4, I think that it is time some new shocks. I have been looking around and have made up mine mind to go with the rancho brand. With that said, I have the off-road package and the rear shocks were too be heavy duty (yea right) I looked at them a long time ago they are the same as the front ones. I also have the towing package and tow a #4000-4500 pound trailer about a dozens times a month back a fourth from the job site. And hual regular loads in the bed. So i dont know if I should get the RSX's or the 5000's, or ranchos at all? ANY help with this will be greatly appreciated.

THX. Josh

I put on RSX shocks back in September and i love them. the factory shock were so worn out any shock would have been an improvement. i tow a 5000# trailer and the shocks do well.
The RSXs are self adjusting and the 5000 are not.

What does it mean then when it says in all these catalogs like jeg's, summit, etc, that the RS5000's have 10 stage VSV (Velocity Sensing Valving)? What does that do?

here is the rancho web site. it tells a little about the shocks. I think the 10 stage valve is the damper inside the shock. i guess it has 10 preset settings. the RSX is self adjusting so has infinite settings

I would get the RSX's...the RS5000s are a little soft for my taste.

Ahh, I see. The RS5000's adjust to "one of the 10" preset dampers according to velocity of the shock being absorbed. And the RSX's adjust "precisely" according to the shock being absorbed. Which makes the RSX shocks operate a tad smoother than the RS5000's.

I like the RSX's. But I think I'll just get the 5000's. I have lots of gifts to buy the family this Christmas, and I don't want to come up short on cash. :santa:
