Question 05 4x2 Lift Kit Suggestions

First off...new to the forum...glad to be here!

I recently got my Supercrew Lariot 4x2 (loving it BTW!) and just added the ford custom chrome nerf bars. I am thinking about eventually adding a lift kit and possibly larger tires/rims. Any suggestions out there on what lift kit? Also, even though this is not the right header, rim/tire suggestions welcome too! (Photo references appreciated!)

Thanks!

Welcome to the site. I'd suggest the 6 inch Fabtech lift with some 18x9 inch wheels and 325/60-18 (33x13.00) Nitto Terra Grapplers or Toyo Open Country AT's.

Thanks....

Thanks for responding so quick! This place is great...answers to almost anything and everything!

This is a project I hope to tackle by the first of the year so I am trying to get in some initial research. I want my truck to have a "tough" look about it without being "goudy."

Photos will be up soon!

Thanks again!

Question Lift Kit or Body Lift?

Wandell:
I am wondering if a 6" lift is a bit much..especially since mine is not a 4x4 and I really do not plan on off-roading all that much. I guess it is more about the look. I really only want to achieve the height of the (stock) '04-'06 4x4. I believe they only sit about 2-3" higher than my 4x2. I noticed on your signature you have a 3" body lift. That is probably more in-line with what I would want to do. What is the difference between a "lift-kit" and a "body lift"?

I am a total novice at this so your advice is greatly appreciated!

A body lift simply lifts the body 3 inches off the frame by the use of polyurethane spacers. They are a lot less expensive, but cost more to install because the body lift is so time consuming to install. You could also install one of the 2.5 inch leveling kits up front which is simply a spacer that fits on your coilover shocks. This will put you at about the same height as a stock 4x4.

Did you go with AutoSpring or Daystar (or another brand)? Tough to know which is better..plastic (Daystar) or metal (AutoSpring)? Metal seems like the obvious choice. Also, how did you decide on what size? Just because it says 1.5", 2" or 2.5" does it give you the exact height or a little more or less?

Thanks in advance for the advice!!!
