Fabtech 6" or RCD 5" Lift Kit

I was thinking of getting a trailmaster 4" lift but have decieded to look at other companies. After reading about cranking up the torsion bars i got a bit worried about the ride. I know that lifting the truck is gonna change the ride but im now preferring that its done with a true lift and not the torsion bars. The other kits are a bit more but i thought im only going to lift it once so i might as well spend the money on a good kit.

I have searched this forum and read that the Pro-Comp kits are good but not the best, unless this isnt true any opinions? I have read the thread Fabtech or Pro-Comp...I may not go off-road alot but when I do i dont want to worry that some part will break/bend etc.

So I was thinking FabTech or RCD. Which is better of the 2 kits and differences(besides the 1"). I beleive that they both use new knuckles, the RCD uses bilstien shocks and the Fabtech uses there own shocks.

I most likely going to run Pro Comp X terrain 315/75R16 tires, they should clear correct? Also the guys that live were it shows alot do you still run the big tires or do you put stockers back on?

Thanks for any input!
Todd

The Fabtech and RCD lifts are both excellent and similar in design. The only advantage I see is the RCD comes with better shocks.

one other thing I just thought of.....is the Steering Stabilizer worth getting??

I agree the RCD comes with a lot better shocks.

both are very good kits, the fabtech is what i recomend because i have used mine extensively and it has held up to whatever i have thrown at it offroad and on, the shocks that come with the fabtech kit are crap in my opinion, i have a freind with a rcd lift on his 99 and it has held up well also, if you dont mind the 1" diffrence i say go with the one you can get cheaper just remember you will want to upgrade from the fabtech shocks or see if they will give you a discount if you get the kit without shocks, and yes the steering stabilizer helps alot with bumpsteer, good luck

If i do not get the shocks with the fabtech kit is is $160 less....what would be a good shock to run with it?

If i pick the one that is cheap right now it is the Fabtech without the shocks its like $300 less. But if the shocks I pick out for the kit is more that $300 then the RCD would be the better choice. I dont really mind 1"...its still a lift

i have the Fabtech lift on my truck and love it, highly recomend! i paid $1,300 for it and i got procomp ES 9000 shocks for an additional $100. I know there not the best but worth the money. With just the fabteck lift on i thought the front end seemed soft and kinda boncey so i got an add-a-leaf and cranked up my torsion bar and im running 37-12.5-17 tires look and rides awesome not to stiff at all, alos if you are going to mostly drive on the road i dont think to need a steering stabliser, my truck goes nice and straight no problems

Very good question, I am facing the same dillemma, I am leaning towards the fabtech (if it can be ordered without the shocks) or the TrailMaster, or even the procomp. Are the fabtech shocks easily swappable with any shock? What about the other kits?

I have asked this question countless times, so someone please answer.
