Exp. Advice on lift for my Ford

I finally got all the bugs worked out in my truck and want to start modifying. I want to fit 36in tires with a good clearance still. I just finished searching through most of the archives and got alot of good input.

I was thinking a 6in Fabtech kit w/ 3in body lift

Truck is a 2000 F/150 4x4,Ext cab,Automatic 4.6

If I want to do this myself, How hard is it to install for the better than average mechanic ?

How will it affect my stock truck (mileage, ride, turning) ?

Any other pros & cons would be extremley helpful.....
I plan on ordering my kits within the next week so I can start 4wheeling soon !

Well your definately going to want to regear to the very least 4.56's and suggest 4.88's or if you tow or want more power, 5.13's. Your steering readius will be about the same. You will get tons more body roll and cant take corners going 30 mph. Ride will be close to stock because you retain the stock torsion bars. It probably will sway and wander when its windy out.

If you have access to air tools that should simplify the process a good bit. I think Fabtech has instructions available online, you might check those out and see if theres anything you dont know how to do in there. If you have a decent amount of mechanical knowledge Id say you can pull it off. Maybe get a buddy or two to give you a hand.
