Shock tuning for application

Has anyone done any specific work on shock tuning for towing application?
Truck is an 02 SCREW towing a 22' enclosed dual axle trailer at close to 6200 lbs.
I intend to go with weight distributing hitch for next summer.
Presently the truck tow's decent except for porposing on rough surfaces.
Bought new OEM shocks speced for 4x4 tow application and they turned out to be much worse than my 40,000 mile original OEMS so took them back off but they did ride better for regular use.
I am considering Rancho 9000x adjustables for fine tuning between towing and regular use..
Any comments?

I was towing a small travel trailer with a Ranger. Edelbrock shocks made a huge difference.

The rear shocks on the 05 are terrible. I'm thinking about putting some Biltsteins on.
