2/4 drop questions
2/4 drop questions
I have a 97 f150 2wd with 20" inch wheels with 275/55/20 tires on them. I know these are to big for a drop but when they wear out I am going to put 275/45/20 tires on and wanted to know what the best setup is to get that drop. I want the best ride quality and money is not a major concern.
1. Belltech 2" spindles, 4" shackle and hanger kit.
2. Western chassis 2" lower control arms, 4" shackle and hanger kit.
3. DJM 2" lower control arms, 4" shackle and hanger kit.
What are the best shocks to get with these setups.
Any concerns with any of these products.
With the spindles or Lower control arms, will I need new shocks for the front?
All help is greatly appreciated.

When I dropped my truck in 98 I used 2" shorter front springs and a 4" hanger kit, as the spindles were not yet available.
I was not crazy about the level look, so I later replaced the 2" short springs with 3" short springs, and the correct Toxic shocks ...........this is a pretty harsh ride if you are not careful - but o.k.
My Nittos are 305's, 17" x 31" x 10" - stock offset wheels, and they lightely graze the inner wheel well liner in front on a good bump, the back is ok with the short snubs.
I'm no expert, but that whole control arm thing sounds like bad ( or worse ) geometry to me.
By the way - the hanger kits come with axle shims to re-align the pinion gear to the trans - don't trust the kit. Go to a good drive line shop and pay them for an hour or so to check and align - this will elimiate wheel hop if ya got the heavy foot...........
I would go 2 & 4 with the spindles and hanger kit, and if you need to you can go with 1" shorter coils later to get a slight rake.
