Crank torsion bars???
Crank torsion bars???
Is this something a semi non-mechanical guy can do in his driveway? And if so is there instructions I could get somewhere? I have a 03 4x4 sport and just want the front end leveled up a bit... (will I have to get a re-allignment after cranking, and will it cause any probs in the future?)

Its real simple. Get the right size socket. Make alot of very small turns and measure often until you get it where you want it. I would drive it around the block and make sure its level and make any adjustments before you go get it aligned.
Yeah, just turn each bolt and equal number of turns untill you get the height you want. Here's a pic. THe adjustment key is covered in surface rust and the adjustment bolt is on the bottom. Don't be surprised if the two bolts are adjusted differently.
They pretty much covered it. Jack the front end up so the wheels are off the ground, turn each side the same amount of turns and drop it down, drive it a lil bit so it settles back down and go from there.
You should be able to get close, depending on how much preload your torsion bars have from the factory. They all seem to be adjusted differently.

I have an 03' supercrew 4x4 and cranked mine up four complete turns on both sides and it leveled it up nicely without effecting the ride to much and didn't see any effect on the mpg.
I will say that I did try cranking them all the way and I didn't like the ride at all, it was very harsh.
Also cranking them by 4 turns still kept mine within specs. I replaced the lower ball joints at the same time due to wear and had the front end checked and everything was still in check. Without cranking them I would have had to add the shims etc... costing another $200.
