Too bad the sensa-tracs and RS5000s are junk.... 10k miles, max and they'll be worn out (at least on our roads.... maybe 15k on smooth roads)

Just my .02

I was at Sears last week getting new tires on my little commuter car. I asked about ranchos for my 05 F150 FX4 SC and they told me they did not yet have Ranchos for that...too new of a truck.

According to the guide on their web site, the rears are already available, the fronts may be, but you have to check because it's a new part number.

Koni or KYB. That being said, they're expensive.

Somebody told me something a few weeks back: Buying new shocks is like buying new underwear. Sure, you can buy them three sizes too small, but you're probably not going to like the way they ride.

In terms of bang-for-the-buck, I'm a huge fan of the Rancho RSX's. (In the Rancho book, they're the 17000 series) I've had them on my F-150 for almost 4 years now, (30k) and they've taken a pounding from the dunes a few times a year, not to mention our pot-hole riddled city's roads, and after 30k, they're just now starting to show some signs that they're losing their damping ability. The stockers were shot after 10k. The RSXs are available from Summit for around $50-60 each, and usually about once a quarter, they're buy three, get one free.

I had sensa-tracs on my Explorer for two years and 40k. They were bad after 20, but I didn't want to change them (too lazy, sold a condo, bought a house, etc). Went to the RSXs on that too.... LOVE the ride now!! Better than the sensa-racs were when brand new, and they should be able to take the abuse a lot better.
