F250 rear leafs on an F150
I've been told that you can swap some 3/4 ton rear leafs onto F150s, so I got a set from the junk yard. The springs I bought have the main spring and 6 additional leafs. Does anyone know if this is really a 3/4 ton spring (seems like a lot)? I thought they would only have a total of 6 leafs. Also, are there any complications I should know of before I dive into this little project. Thanks!
Why would you do this? You may gain some lift, but it will be at the cost of an extremely stiff ride. You really won't gain much load carrying ability, because you still have a 1/2 ton frame and drivetrain.
I have two full size dirt bikes and a small trailer that I haul into the mountains of Wyoming. The stock springs are not adequate for this type of work. I fully realize that the ride will be stiff the majority of the time, but I live for the weekends and this modification would help me out. A local shop is going to do this for me next week. They've done this sort of thing before and are going to take one or two of the extra leafs off so that the springs will be somewhere between 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton stiffness. If anyone's interested, I'll let you know how it turns out.

Why in the world would you pay someone to do a mod like this? Maybe it's just me, having owned a '79 VW Bus and a rockcrawler Jeep, but why not just do it yourself?
I got a set of these overload springs and they bolted onto the stock springs. They are "Progressive" so that the heavier the load, the more tension the overloads apply. So, when it's empty, it's not near as stiff and those F250 springs are going to be.... These also give me a total of 6 leafs...

These cost about $150 and took 45 minutes to setup and install. It's been the best mod I've done to the truck.
