Radial arm bushing help
hey
I have a question, how do you know if these bushings are gone and how do you replace them yourself. I have a pounding on my floor boards over bumps and am suspecting the radial arm bushings.

To tell if a radius arm bushing is bad simply look underneath and see if the bushing is eaten out on top. To replace them you will need to drop the raduis arm crossmember down. If this has never been done before the rivets holding it in will need to be cut out. Once thats done drop the crossmember down and install the new bushings and reinstall. Replace the rivets with grade 8 hardware. It can be done without dropping the crossmember, but this is by far the fastest and easiest way.
Yes, I would agree. The passenger side went first for me because of the heat from the catalytic converter basically melted it. If you are going to replace them make sure to use urethane bushings as they will tend to last longer than the stock ones. Its an easy enough job to do and the parts are cheap so you might as well try it and see if it fixes your problem.
