multiple problems with my 99 f150!! please help

Hey guys, You've helped me out before and now i need it again.... First thing is a nasty whining noise coming from the engine that seems to follow the rpms.. If i didnt know better i would think it has a supercharger in it!! maybe the idler pulley??? second is a shake after about 65mph, i am not sure if it could be the tires out of balance?? they are a little over 1 yr old with about 25000 miles on em. And to top that off a bad brake shake, but i just bought all new rotors and pads from auto zone last fall and put them in!! Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

The wining may be an alternator bearing going out. My 92 Saturn sounded supercharged until the alternator finally died and the battery gave out. Then it was kaput.

i got my rear drum brakes checked and the guy tightened them too and he made the driver side rear tires brakes way too tight and i experienced some violent shaking especially when i braked and it was fixed simply by losening the brakes what kind of intake is on it? is it stock? does it whine when its idle? when exactly does the whining noise occur?

On the brake problem, does it feel like a pulsing when you apply the brakes?

Having the tires balanced may indeed help. Have they been rotated according to schedule? I do mine about twice a year but usually put about 12,000 a year on the truck.

Ok, its actually got rear disc brakes, i have rotated the tires about a month ago, the whining noise is there all the time, from idleing to going through the gears... rpms higher = whining noise higher and there is no afterarket parts, its all stock. The brakes are definately pulsing and violently shaking the truck, i cant imagine they are bad already, the fronts were replaced last october and the rears just this past march!! I got them from autozone, i hope they werent crappy rotors... could it possibly be the tie rods or maybe ball joints???

A tie-rod, or ball joint will not normally cause a shake/pulsation during braking. If the steering wheel shakes when braking, have your front rotors turned. If the shake feels like it is more in the seat or pedal have the rear rotors turned. Make sure all of the caliper hardware has been cleaned of rust and lubricated.

As for your shaking at 65mph, sounds like you need to balance your tires. The only other possibility would be a U-joint going bad. Most times a squeak will be present unless the joint is trashed.
