Body is lifted. Steering Question...

I bought a new 2003 F-150 6cyl manual. Have added various aftermarket items, thanks to this website (K&N, Flowmaster, Guards, Steps etc).

This weekend, I had a professional garage install a P.A. 3" body lift. I really like the looks and dont have any problems with the lift itself. In additional to things I knew would be different (stick shift lower, etc.)I immediately noticed a difference in steering. It seems that I have about an 1/2 to an inch play in the steering wheel, that I did not have before the lift.

I was told that it is due to the extension that was added. Is this the case?

Also, for those who are thinking about a body lift, it is a real difference and I like it. I also had a chrome diamond plate added under the tail gate to hide the difference as well as additional black panels around the wheel wells.

If anyone has experienced play in the steering wheel or know what may cause it I would appreciate your input.

Thanks

SOunds like you either received a bad steering extension or it is not tight enough. You have to tighten the heck out of the steering extension.

Wandell - Thanks!

Wandell - Thanks for the information. I tool the truck back today and found out that the steering extension was not tighten at all!!! It appears the shop had a disgruntled employee who did the lift, and he messed mine up as well as some other customers vehicles in for service. This was a dangerous situation.

The shop was so apologetic, they gave me a Jeep to drive all day today and completely reviewed everything on my truck. Every nut and bolt was tightened. They even replaced a KC bulb that had burnt out!

The steering is completely normal!

Thanks again
