But, what I really did was go to Pep Boys and rent the ball joints removal tool and use it to remove both lower ball joints while doing my suspension lift.

Hey I need to know how to get my driver side cv axle off. It's broken at the joint inside the boot and I get the front half to stop spinning but the side that's connected to the front gear box spins while trying to get the bolts off. Any ideas?!?!?

Would it help to put it in 4x4? An impact wrench might do the job if that is available. Normally you would get a helper to hold the brake or loosen the bolts before lifting the truck. With a broken axle, I'm not sure.

Ha. A 10 year old thread about ball joints, and you're asking about cv axles.
