sensetive steering

I looked at a 96 f-150 and took it for a test drive. This truck looks good but it was salvage at one point. While driving it I had to keep both hand on the steering wheel. It was not pulling but was very sensetive to any movement. I am thinking of buying this truck and fixing this problem. Anybody has an idead what could cause this problem?

I would say that it's the steering gear box,the adjustment nut on it needs to be turned to take the play out. If it's a high mileage truck the gear box may need to be replaced if adjusting does not work, all the adjustment may be used up from the last owner.
