My 4x4 used to wheel hop really bad. Even on gravel, but really bad when the pavement was wet.

Was due to the really SOFT leaf springs and the 2" block under the soft springs.....

I got some Hellwig Overload springs to resolve the issue I had with not being able to put any kind of load in the truck. It would go to the bump stops with just a bag of groceries in the bed!!

As an added bonus it also cured the wheel hop problem and the rear end 'clunk' I had too.

What they did was add some additional 'spring rate' to the setup so that they did not flex as much under acceleration. It did firm up the ride a bit, but for the better IMO. The truck drives and handles much better now, even empty and the wife still says it's got a nice comfortable ride to it, even on long road trips. Here is the setup I got.

Might not be the right solution for you, but mostly just posted it to show that it's the leaf springs themselves that are causing the problem.....

Good luck!

Mitch

I would install some ladder bars. Pro Comp, Fabritech and Fabtech makes some nice ones.

if you are getting wheel hop/axle wrap traction bars/ladder bars are the best way to make it go away, i had wheel hop real bad under hard go pedal on dirt after my lifts got some pro comp traction bars and it made it all go away keeps the wheels getting traction at all times, here is a pic
