Question leveling kit for '01 4x4

Does anyone know the scoop on these aftermarket torsion bar keyways? I've received a few different responses from different dealers. One said I'm better off just cranking the bars up and I'd get about an inch, the other says I can get a good 2 - 2 1/2" with the keyways. Anyone have these installed or know anything about them? Also, how drastically would my ride quality be compromised? Thanks

Personally, I don't think they are a good idea. They increase the preload on the torsion bars, like you can do with the stock adjustment keyways. The aftermarket keys just allow you to put more preload on the torsion bars than you can with the stock adjustment keys. The amount of lift you can get is limited. You can only add so much preload before your suspension is topped out against the upper bumpstop. You can also crank your preload up to the point that your CV joints are at too severe of an angle and start to wear out quickly. I would just crank up the torsion bars with the stock adjustment keys.

I agree. I had the same dilemma, so I just replaced my original torsion bars with the "snow plow" package bars or #7700 bars.
Then I cranked until I got about 2" up front. Not too much of an angle on the cv-shafts, and now I don't have to worry about the bars snapping under extreme use.

Just an idea.

Take care.

Hey DSN46,
I've heard about those 7700 series bars... Where can I get a hold of a pair of those, about how much would they run me, and how would they affect the ride? Being the "snow-plow" package bars, I know they are meant to carry a load up front, which is good b/c I plan on strapping on a bull bar or grill guard later on. Thanks for your help!

This will be redundant to some as I've posted this before, but I am not one of those "go do a search!" kind of people, so here ya go my friend.

You can get them at dealership since they are an option that you can order from factory if you run a plow. They cost $75.00 each here in Missouri. They will definitely stiffen-up your ride; as they should, they were designed to carry more weight.

The part numbers are as follows:

Drivers side: F75Z5B327-KB
Passenger: F75Z5B326-KB

They are 5" longer than stock bars, so you will have to move the cross member back 5"... this is not a problem since the holes are already there.... remember, it came from the factory with them in case you ordered one built with those bars

I like the ride personally. No more "body roll" when going around corners and such. Plus, I run a hidden winch mount with a Ramsey 8000 lb winch up front, I wanted the extra support.

As a side note, just you know what you are strapping onto your truck. These are the bars that came on the F250 LD when Ford was making them.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I have pics. I have been contemplating getting pictures up on this forum.... just never really took the time. I'll pull the pics out of my "Trucks I've Owned and Loved" photo album and get some up here for ya.

Take Care.
