Another leveling thread!!

Hi guys,
I just stumbled across your site a couple days ago and I figured I might as well sign up. I just got my first F-150 a week ago, a 2005 Extended Cab XLT 4x4, and I have a couple of questions. I have never done any suspension mods to any vehicle, its just never been my thing, but I think that my new truck would look even better if I lowered its rear end a tad, and gave it some bigger wheels. To accomplish the small drop, 1"-2" inches, the research I have done(which wasnt extensive) suggested as if I had two choices. Either shackles, or drop blocks. Well, I went out to actually look at my truck and drop blocks wouldnt do anything as the axle is under the springs. So I thought "shackles it is"!! Well heres my question, after looking at my suspension for a little bit, it seems as if Ford has already installed a riser between the axle and spring, its about 1.5"-2" tall, can I just remove this component and acheive the drop I am looking for? If it is removable, will I need a pinion angle adjustment? Thanks for any responses. I will post pics as I get my truck the way I want.
My F-150

you could go fully custom and have alcan make you a set of replacement springs for whatever drop you desire.

You could also raise the front end, there are kits out there that put a spacer between the front coil spring and raise the front 1.5"-2"...

Daystar and AutoSpring makes kits for it.

Thank you very much for the responses, but, both solutions are out of the question. I dont know how much new custom springs would cost, but I imagine they would be substantially more expensive than shackles(I will check it out though). I also do not want to raise the truck at all, its not the look I am going for, thanks though. Anybody with any ideas about those factory risers in-between the springs and axle?

The 4x4 come with a 2 inch lift block in between the rear axle and springs. Just remove the lift blocks.

Then yes, you can do what wandell said, just remove the lift blocks, that should about level it out.

After that if you want more drop you would have to get shackles in the back.
