Question 99 F-150 gears and suspension

Just a couple of question. I have a 1999 F-150 that has a 6" Fabtech suspension, and a 3" body. After all that good stuff I wanted it just a little higher. So I added another block in the rear and adjusted the torsion bars. I have had a couple of problems. I have 17" wheels with 37" x 13.50 and for some reason just the driver front wheel has become a pain. The lug nuts have been popping off like crazy. I have heard two different things to do. 1) Torque the wheels 2) adjust the torsion back. But I have heard a more interesting one. Get reversed threaded lugs so they will tighten while driving. Since I did all that I was wondering what kind of gears to put in it also. Right now it is stock with 3.55.

Welcome ! I'll comment on the gears only. You're going to need 4.88s to even get near the stock setup with 37s.

that is very weird that the lug nuts came off mine have never even losened, i dont think it will hapen if you torqe them down to specks or you could try getting a difrent set of lugnuts that culd be the problem also, or you could put a small amount of locktight, on the gears i would go with 4.88 or 4.56 i would recomend 4.88 in my opinion

Question

Thanx guys. yeah I have had to put some time in this truck. Every inch of it I have done myself. But so far the lug nuts are good. I had another question about the drive shaft. It is atleast two inch in the transmission, is that enough? Also has anybodies four wheel drive keep poping inn and out? I know its because of the lift but how to fix it?

First: 4.56 are easy to get 4.88 are/were on backorder nationally because they are newer. but 4.88s are better. Next are the studs breaking or the nuts backing off. third get a 6degree procomp shim from summit. it will put less stress on the u joints and put more of the drive shaft into the tranny. four, get some traction/ladder bars and that will limit your axle from moving and pulling the driveshaft out.

my $.02
