'99 front end squeek

driving me nuts! my mechanic said the ball joints are dry of lubricant, and need replacing. my questions are 1) has anybody else had this problem, or is it just my family curse? and 2) why the hell did ford build a truck with no grease fittings? he said the replacements would have grease fittings. a better idea from ford?

Not all will have grease fittings. Just replaced the upper and lower on my friends 99 F150 2X2. Took about 3 hours. If you do it yourself, remember to see if the parts store has the camber set for the upper control arms. Parts cost about $250.00. Beats paying 7-8 hundred dollars for the dealer to do it.

1. Yes, very common problem
2. If the boneheads at Ford put in grease fittings, and the customer kept them lubed, they wouldn't go bad. Now there is no money in that for Ford or the aftermarket, is there?
