Question Steering stabilizer??

Hey Ya'll

I have a new steering stabilizer sitting in the box waiting on the weekend. Have any one done this and if they have where did you mount it and do you have any pics? I am planning on attaching one end to the front axle and the other to the drag link (the bar between the Pitman and Idler arm). However, it is cold, dark and raining so I have not tried to test fit it yet. If there are any better suggestions let me hear them.

If anyone is interested, 4wheelparts.com has Explorer Pro Comp ES3000 shocks(4), ES2000 stabilizer and 5 boots on sale for $129.99.

Is the Pro Comp made just for the 04 F150 or is it a universal model? I'd like to add a steering stabilizer to my truck as well but was hoping to get one vehicle specific. Any suggestions? BTW, my 04 4x4 is stock. Thanks.

It has instructions but I was curious to see if there were any tips, tricks etc. I don't think that installation will be much of a problem at all.

I am not sure if it is vehicle specific, the brackets are universal. I would assume that the dampeners are rated for a certain range of vehicle sizes. I am not real familiar with the 04+ front end so I have no idea how it will fit on an 04.

The biggest thing is to make sure that they sent you the right bracket kit. I originaly recieved the wrong one and spent a while trying to make it fit. Once I recieved the right kit it was fairly easy. The only changes that I made was to mount the bracket on the slotted hole in the crossmember instead of removing the lower control arm bolt. I had a grade 8 bolt of the correct length and diameter and enough lock washers on hand to use this mounting location so it saved me some time. Overall it was not hard to do at all.

Any tips on how to install it? It did not come with instructions.

04-05 F150's have rack and pinion steering. i don't think you can put a steering stabilizer on rack and pinion. i'm not 100% positive about this. i've looked at mine and i can't see any way it could work. the rack and pinion is an enclosed system, there is nothing to mount to other than the tie-rod ends.

Did it come with the hardware. should be a large bolt two brackets. and two u bolts. The instructions say to pull the bolt out of the lower rear stock a arm and replace it with the bolt that came with the kit and place the lower bracket there. What wookie said to do was there is a slotted hole it the lower control arm. He used a bolt through that slot I used a stud for a jeep cherokee steering stabilizer. then center the shock out and attach the other bracket to your drag link. The bolt to the right of where the stabilizer is mounted is the one you are supposed to remove. once you get it mounted to your drag link turn the wheel both ways make sure you centered it correctly so your steering is not limited by the stabilizer then make sure everything is tight.

The procomp kit does not fit a 4x4 04-08 the only kit they sell to fit a 4x4 is fabtech.I had ordred a procomp kit and it did not fit when we put it on and i ordered a fabtech and it fit perfect even though fabtech says it will only fit a fabtech lift.

I see that on the fabtech website it states that it will not fit oem wheels. What wheels do you have as I am planning on getting this possibly. Thanks
