front lifted

I currently drive a 2003 F150 Xlt 2wd super cab, and i currently put on 285's 75R16 and there is hardly any clearance. I dont wanna take it off road or over any bumps with this little clearance? I want to get a 1 or 2 inch lift in the front to fix this problem and it will also level out the truck. I wanna do this and spent the least amount money possible for this? Someone told me i can just ride up to discount auto parts and get some blocks for like $20 and just take it to a place and let them install it, and that will cost just labor. Would this work?

No, that won't work. Your front suspension is double a-arms with coil springs, not a solid axel with leaf springs. Even if it was, lift blocks should never, ever be used on the front of a truck to lift it. The cheapest thing for you to do would be to buy a set of 2 inch Daystar coil spring spacers (I think they are around $80) and have them installed. Do not get the cheap coil spring spacers that wedge in between the coils. These are still sold at Discount Auto Parts and other places and may be what your friend was refering to. These things will destroy your ride as well as your springs. The next option would be a set of 2 inch lifted coil springs which would be more expensive. The next option would be a set of 3.5 inch lift spindles, which would be the most expensive option.

I went to Discount auto parts today and looked for some coil spring spacer and found 3 differnt kinds. one was metal and plasic and it was in pieces i dont realy trust that. There was also a big 1 piece plastic spacer that looked to take up my entire spring. Would this one work on my truck? Would i get by with this one and if not why is the other one better and whats the differnce?

The Daystar spacers are a solid piece of urethane. They mount on top of the spring. They are not wedged in between the coils where they can fall out or destroy the spring rate. The Daystars require that the coil spring be removed so they can be installed on top of the spring.

ok ill take your word on it and get the daystar coil spacers. I just have 3 questions. 1. Will this ruin my warranty on my truck not that it matters i kno nothing will happen to it? 2. How long will it take to get professionals to install it, one store i go to charges 60 a hour, would it be longer than that? I have a 03 f150 2wd xlt supercab and just installed 285's 75 R 16, how big of these spacers do u reccomend i get for making more clearance and to level out my truck a little bit? THanks

They shouldn't affect your warranty, but ask your dealer to make sure. Some dealers are cool about mods and some are d!#*$. Two inches is as high as you can go without having to install new upper control arms. I'm not sure what installation will cost, as it varies from place to place. Keep in mind you will also need to get your front end aligned after installation. You may need a camber kit to get the alignment correct. Most people say they get their camber kits a NAPA for $50 or less.

I would go ahead and get the two inch spacers. I would think most auto parts store would have the camber adjustment bolts, at least I believe that's the correct term. You could also try alignment shops.

try the autospring on e-bay. the come in 1 1/2", 2" and 2 1/2" I believe. I just did mine and their pretty easy to do. They go on top of the coil spring so no need to compress. If you Google "Auto Spring Co." you'll get their web site and that'll link you to the e-bay site. They have 800 numbers you can call and they are very helpful. I paid $115 for the set and installed myself.

The Autospring lift is for the 04 and 05 F-150's which use a coilover shock. His truck is an 03 which uses a completely different front suspension.
