Ball joint question

I need to change out my lower ball joints and was wanting to do this myself. I have an 01 SCrew with torsion bars. I know I can get a press from the auto parts store but I want to go with a greaseable ball joint. My questions are 1.) Do I need to remove the lower control arm thus loosing up the tension on my torsion bar? 2.) If I do remove the control arm is there a need to change out the bushings?
