Thunk sound coming from front end

Question Thunk sound coming from front end

Sometimes,not always,when I accelerate from a dead stop I can here a slight "thunk" sound from the right front end. Ive checked the shock,tie rod end,etc......any ideas?

I don't have an answer but I'm looking... my '97 F150 supercab also makes a thunk from a dead stop... mine seems to be right below my butt, not so much in the front end... mine also makes a sort of creak noise - sounds sort of like a small Honsa honkin its horn for a 1/4 of a second... to me it kind of feels like something is shifting either in the suspension or the bed...

hopefully someone can give us an idea.

Looks like this may be the, apparently, common "slip yoke" problem... do a search for that and you'll find a wealth of info... there's also a Ford TSB dealing with it.

thunk noise

check your idler arm, if they are not greased regularly, they develop a little bit of slop...
