Torque spec

New forum member. I can't for the life of me remember the torque spec on the front axle nut at the hub. I have a 99 F150 and had to replace the bearing assembly on the left front. Had a growl, you know? Haven't had to turn a wrench on her for so long I can't remember where I put my manual...........it's hell to get old. Thanks for any help.

Per the Haynes Repair Manual, page 1-26, para. 21: Spin the hub in a forward direction while tightening the spindle nut to approx. 30 ft-lbs to seat the bearings and remove any grease or burrs which could cause any free-play later.
Loosen the spindle nut 1/4 turn, then using your HAND, tighten the nut until it is snug.
Install the nut lock and cotter pin through the spindle hole.
If the slots in the lock don't line up with the hole in the spindle, reposition the nut lock until it does.
Check for free-play. If it exists, repeat steps above.

Hey thanks Yankee. I appreciate it. Have to get out in the shop tonight and finish that little project. Thanks again!
