Lowering 2002 FX4
I need help...real bad. I just purchased a 2002 F150 FX4 Super Crew and it is too high for the heated parkade where I park. Given I live in Canada where it is now -40 F, this is a real problem for my wife. If I do not find a solution, I will be forced to sell...I need to lower the truck by 2 inches minimum.
The truck has a Ranchero suspension and sits about 6'3" high. Any ideas greatly appreciated as a guy does not want to loose his truck.

Does your truck have an aftermarket Rancho 4 inch suspension lift, or are you referring to the OEM Rancho shocks that come on the FX4 package? If the truck is stock, you can remove the factory 2 inch lift block from the rear and take some of the preload off the torsion bars up front to lower the truck. I guess you could do the same thing if you do have a Rancho suspension lift. Also, what size are the tires? You could install a shorter tire which will reduce the overall height. The OEM tires on the FX 4 trucks are 265/70-17 which are approximately 32 inches tall.

Tires are 265/70-17 at 32 psi. So not sure what I can do here.
Re front preload on tosion arms...will they actually move the front 1-2"??
Thanks for help.
My Lariat came stock with 275/60-17 tires. They are slightly wider and almost 2" shorter than yours. Stock tire height is right at 30". So tires can get you an inch, although lowering the suspension will probably be cheaper and more effective. I suggest you look underneath a few late model 2WD pickups so you can see the difference on the spring mounts from yours. I realize 2WD trucks are rare in your neck of the woods- not like here.
Correct, that is the block you need to remove. You will probably need shorter u-bolts after you remove the block. Personally, I'd remove the block and then just back off the torsion bar preload enough to get the truck to sit level. Depending on where they are adjusted to, you may not need to back off the preload to get the truck level.
