how much weight for winter

I have a 97 2wd with the stock differental. It is an extended cab with the full 8 foot bed. I am curious how much weight is too much. I have 560lbs that I can put in the back. I was going to put half of that in until the snow got real bad. Then add the rest. Is this overkill?

i've never put anything in my bed and mine does pretty good in snow.i was late for school one day and ran 95 on solid ice cause nobody was in that lane and everybody was goin like 20 in the only clear lane.mine's a 4 wheel but it was in 2 wheel drive at the time.if you wanna put somethin in there i'd just try like 200 lbs maybe and keep your tank full, the difference in a full and nearly empty tank is about 125 lbs.i'm not tryin to tell you not to put anything in your bed or anything, just cause i do somethin sure as hell don't make it a good idea.i just wouldn't wanna ride around with alot of weight all winter,my springs get enough of a workout.
