Hello Wandell, You are correct We believe that is the problem also. I am helping Chance above with installing the lift. He is at work today and can not respond yet. I have more details for you. We installed the torsion bars in the original position and also the tension blocks attached to the rear of the torsion bars. The blocks did not have the same amount of tension as before the lift. We screwed the bolts up to put more tension on and did not have much effect on the height. We moved the block down to the next hex on the torsion bar and it seemed like it would be too much pressure to even get it jacked up enough to get the lock keys in position or may twist the torsion bars too much and make them useless. Would this be the fix and not cause damage to the torsion bars? The instructions didn't mention you have to move the blocks down a hex. The only thing they said was to screw the bolts in the same amount as before and do not go above 29"(as measured between the center of the hub and bottom lip of the front fender.) on the adjustment. Sorry for the long details but I wanted to be as clear as I could. Well I will move to the rear for now and get that out of the way. Maybe it will change something in the front for the better. Thanks again.
I have never installed a suspension lift on an IFS equipped truck, so I am no expert on this. The reason I suggested this was because I read a member at FTW post a topic that was similar. He was wondering why his truck sat a lot lower than identical trucks with identical lifts. After he posted some photos, everyone noticed that his CV joints were completely straight, instead of angled downward. It turned out that his torsion bars were installed with the adjustment keys indexed incorrectly. The shop that installed his lift reindexed his torsion bar adjustment keys and his truck sat at the same height as others with the same lift. I would suggest contacting the suspension lift manufacturer.
I wish I could tell you. I know that the torsion bars have some preload on them because I have read lift kit reviews and they always show the installer using a special tool or large C clamp to release the preload on the torsion bars so they can be removed. Therefore they have to have preload on them when they are re-installed. You might try asking this question over at Ford Truck World. There are several members there that have tons of experience actually installing lifts on our trucks. I'm sure they can help you more than some guy (me) that has just talked to people that have installed lifts.
