Rancho RS9000X install

Got 4 new Rancho RS9000X shock for my 01' Supercab. I attmepted to do the install today but I have a few questions. First there are no directions, but I can understand since the install looks pretty straight forward. However, am I missing parts for the shocks? I got 2 red rubber bumpers, 1 nut and two metal washers. There red rubber bumpers seam much thicker than whats on there now. I assume that I use the 2 provided for the top mount of the shock...am I supposed to re-use the other rubber bumpers at the bottom?

Any help is greatly apprieciated!

Rich

They're a straight swap out, but there are detailed instructions you can search in this exact area. You don't use any pieces associated with the old shocks whatsoever. "EACH" shock should come with 2 red upper bushings, 2 upper bushing washers, and one upper nut. All four lowers just bolt on and the bushings are pre-installed; use the factory bolts. If the upper bushing washers are cupped, the cup faces the red bushing. If the upper bushings have a small, extended area on one side, this fits into the vehicle mount. The upper mounting goes in this order: shock>washer>bushing>vehicle mount>bushing>washer>nut. Snug the upper components up until the red bushings BEGIN to compress. The sides should bulge slightly without extending past the sides of the bushing washers.

Thanks for the help! Thats what I thought too, but just wanted to be sure that I installed them correctly the first time. The pre-installed bushings just dont look as big as the OEM ones...will give this another shot tonight, those nuts on the tops of the rear shocks look like a PITA to get at...

You're Welcome ! Those rear tops aren't real bad. Access them through the side/rear of the fender well. A deep socket and 3/8" rachet should fit right inside the gap. From under, you may need a open-end wrench. It's a good idea to use waterproof grease on the polyurethane bushings. Good luck with the install.

Ranchos where installed today along with an add-a-leaf from ProComp. All I can say is wow! What a difference from the stock shocks. I got a good 2" lift from the add-a-leaf. Now all that is left is to crank up the torsion bars to get 1" in the front. Thanks for all the help...this board is awesome!
