F250LD torsion bars

I have read someplace that the F250LD torsion bars are the same as the F150 torsions bars that come with the 4x4 off road pkg. Can anyone verify this? Cant seem to find the original article.

Thanks for the help,
Rich

i think what you're talking about is the 7700# payload package that came with the "light duty" F-250. I have had an idea about getting these torsion bars...i've been wanting to get a Ranch Hand replacement bumper for the front of my truck, and although Rand Hand makes them, they don't recommend them for my F-150, because they say it's just a little too heavy. i was thinking of installing these 7700# torsion bars AND then getting the replacement bumper. what do y'all think? would these heavier duty torsion bars keep the front from sagging, and being worn out prematurely?

The F-250/7700 torsion bars will fit a F-150. They are stiffer than the standard 1/2 ton torsion bars. I think they would be a good upgrade if you are installing a heavy accessory on the front of your truck, like the Ranch Hand bumper or a heavy winch.

brahmus....yes that is what I thought too. The non 7700 f150 with the 4x4 and off road pkg has the same torsion bars that the f250 light duty and f150 7700 have. I know that the 7700/f250ld torsion bars are 1.36 inches in diameter. The 6500# torsion bars are about 1.27 or something. I just need a reliable whay of measuring mine.

Well I went outside today and measured. My front GAWR is 3600 lbs. I wrapped a piece of paper around the bar and marked it. I calculated the diameter to be 1.30 inches which is correct for the 3600 lbs on the front end. The 7700 f150 torsion bars diameter is 1.36. Does anyone know where the part numbers for these are? I found what was left of a yellow sticker on one. One part said "Made in Mexico" and above that was F56A.

Just moving it to the top and wondering if anybody found out if the 7700# t-bars will work.

From what I've read, the 7700/ F-250 torsion bars are different (stiffer) than any of the torsion bars that are used on any F-150 4x4. If you have a Supercrew, you will have to relocate the torsion bar crossmember further back. The Screws use a shorter torion bar than the other trucks apparantly. The holes are already in the frame, it's just a matter of removing and relocating the crossmember. A member at FTW did this on his Screw. I believe the 7700/F-250 bars are a direct bolt on for standard and Supercab trucks.

I started thinking, what would be the benefits of 7700/f250 bars?? Wouldn't it just ride stiffer. Your height currently is limited by the angle of your front axle shafts correct?

My point is that I would feel more comfortable tightening up the heavy duty bars over the regular ones. I think that there would be less of a chance breaking one of those. I am going to the a dearship to pick up some parts I ordered, there is supposedly a suspension expert that has been wit ford for 25 years. I will post any comments he might have later on.

No bash intended just trying to see why someone would want to switch out the bars. Has anyone ever heard of someone breaking bars? pros vs. cons
