Edelbrock IAS vs. Rancho RS9000X
This has probably been hammered to death in the past, so forgive me. I'm looking to replace the shocks on my 2001 Screw. I've narrowed my search down to the Edelbrock IAS and the Rancho RS9000X. I know that Ford is using Rancho on their newer Offroad package as stock, but awhile back, this website was very high on the Edelbrocks. Any suggestions or feedback would help. I'm also still open to other brands if someone can totally convince me that product is better than the 2 I've narrowed my search to. Also, the Edelbrocks are running about $20 cheaper per shock than the Ranco. I know the rancho has an adjustable selector for different road conditions, but I doubt I'm going to be climbing under my truck all the time playing with it! What a Pain in the A__!
Thanks!
Thanks!
shocks?
i replaced the stock shocks on my truck about 4 months ago with the edelbrock shocks and found that the back shocks were a bit soft for my taste. alot of people like it for the more carlike ride but i like it a bit more firm. i have friend who put ranchos on a supercab and have only riden in it once so i cant really tell you about them....
Shocks
I have tried both on my 2001 supercrew 4x2. I bought the Edelbrocks first. They worked well but seemed to soften after about 10-15k miles. I now have the RS9000X's and I like them better. Adjustment is easy and you can dial them in for the ride you want.
The RS9000s are nice for several reasons. You can crank them up for towing/hauling. The rears are all that's necessary for this and access is wide open. You can also adjust the firmness you prefer with differences in front and rear. After you find what you like, you don't have to change them regularly.
I hated my edelbrock shocks (2001 Screw 2wd) they seemed softer than the stock shocks and big bumps scared the cr*p out of me. Just had the Rancho 9000s installed 20 minutes ago and they are awesome. Started at 5 and little to stiff. Have the fronts at 3 and the rears at 4.
