4x4 Front axle

I have a 2003 Ford F-150 Kingranch 4x4.

I have been noticing a little shimmy while driving at higher speeds and a little more noticable bounce while turning on right curves.

After thinking that the tires needed balancing I decided to look under the truck.

First off I noticed the driverside inner CV boot was off the halfshaft then I noticed that the passengerside inner boot was torn and that the halfshaft was at a 90 degree angle. Knowing this didn't seem right I crawled under the truck and found that the bolt holding the front axle (passengerside) in place was missing. WTF. I took the truck to the dealership and of course they must order parts and crap. But there is no telling how many mile have been put on my truck with this problem.

My question is has this ever happened to anyone here?

Like I said it was only noticeable while driving at highway speeds.

No thrashing or grinding.

Dumbfounded as to the reason

Sounds like your truck might have been assembled on a Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend

You may be right about that Sidewinder. I have yet to get it fixed, the dealership keeps having delays. I am still driving it though and since having a cheesey little bolt put in it hasn't had problems. I still want it fixed right though. I tried to post pictures of the problem but I would rather have my teeth pulled that figure that thing out.

No other problems have risen other that cleaning the damn saddle leather.

not that problem but i just had my transfer case rebuilt on my 2003 screw.(22000km or 15000 easy miles) the fork(plastic? what F>>K'n genuis came up with that 1) that engages the 4x broke without me knowing it. i don't use the 4x very often but they noticed it when i had some other work getting done. ( that's another story, you can go read that on the screw board under "can you believe this")

Update

I just got my truck back from the stealership and after going over and over the problem I had with them they got all but one CV boot replaced. The service manager said I was good as new when I left. I just called and told him that the tech didn't fix the CV Boot. He claimed I never told him about that problem.

Hello it's right there hanging in the techs face the whole time he replaced the bolt to my axle.

Just a question.

How many times does the average Ford owner take thier truck back to the shop for each problem?

Hope mine is less than 4.

Does your Ford dealership give you loaner to drive or are you on your own?
