Noise coming from front drivers side

Whenever I am backing up while turning right, there is a clicking like noise that comes from under the ds wheel well somewhere. It is kind of disturbing because I am afraid that I am going to be driving down the road and my truck is going to fall apart while doing 60 mph on US 19 (real busy highway in florida). Any ideas of what this could be?

Is it a consistent clicking or does it do it once or twice and then is quiet.

If it does it once or twice, you may have a bad idler arm that is binding. Also, I think there was a fix for a clunking coming while turning at full lock on the lightning trucks. Some the rest of the F150's had it too. I think it uses some new adjustment plates for the upper arm or something like that. This stops the arm from binding that caused the noise. Do a search in the lightning forum and you will ge the info on those plates.

If it does it multiple times like a steady click over and over. I would check for something dragging when the wheel is turned that way. Jack it up, turn the wheel full lock and rotate the tire and see what happens. The noise may be more shallow without the weight on it but it should be there. It may be a wheel bearing that does not like going backwards.

Good Luck,
Brian

It only does it once but only while turning right while backing up. Also this would have maybe helped a bit: 98 F150 XLT 4.6L Short Bed Ext. Cab 2WD
