You can buy just replacement boots. Most partsstors should have them. FYI if one of your boots was torn you should clean and inspect the joint for dirt and debris and repack it with CV grease.

Yes you can buy either a split boot type so you dont have to take everything apart or you can buy the regular boots and go through the process of removing the hub assembly, rotor, etc. If you choose the regular boot you might want to consider just replacing the whole cv halfshaft right away (which is both inner and outer cv joints), since you will have everything already off. It will be a pain to have to remove everything again in a few months when your joint gose bad due to dirt, etc (unless you are certain the boot has only been torn for a very short time). My boot tore a ways back and I didn't notice it for a while. About a month ago the cv joint tore completely off of the hub assembly. It rattled around and screwed up the hub assembly also. The cv halfshafts aren't extremely expensive either.

this might be a dumb question

Is it important to inject your CV boots with grease as part of your routine maintenance? The F150 I now own is the first one that has ever had CV boots so I have no experience with them.

No you should not have to inject grease into a sealed boot. The grease that came from the factory should last the life of the joint.
