Talking okay i finally did it...i bought the lift

ok so after many months of deliberating, shoping, and asking questions, i bought a lift kit. i ordered a 3" spindle, add-a-leaf, 2" coils, and 2" blocks. i'm going to shop around for some shocks here in a little bit. so what i'm going to do is start spraying all the related parts with penetrating fluid til i put the lift on (which will be memorial day weekend), any other ideas for getting ready for the lift? also what's the best shock i can get for under $200 for all 4? any advise from experienced lifters on what to watch for/ tips on install/ etc? thanks guys. can't wait...5" of lift and then i'm going to put some 285's on (best i can do on stock 16" rim)

don't be stingy with the shocks, good quality shocks like edelbrocks IAS, Bilsteins, Ranchos, etc can make your truck ride 10 times better than cheapodepots!!!!!!

As far as advice, have some friends, jacks, and jack stands handy!!!!!!

I never did a lift but I'm curious to know if the brake hoses in the front will be too short after the lift? Does the kit come with new, longer hoses?

Good luck.

Most of the time you need longer break lines unless you have slack in them to begin with. I suggest some Stainless Steel Braided lines personally.

ha ha... foiled again wild-mtn-rose. now some stainless steel brake lines...thanks for the great idea that's what i'm looking for. i was going to have to check out the brakes anyway so maybe i'll just add that to the list. i'd prolly have enough slack for a couple inches lift but not 5-6". thanks and keep 'em coming. oh, you better believe i'll have pics up when i'm done...just like a proud poppa

My advise would be that not to install the add-a-leaf AND a 2 inch block. I've got 7.5 inches of lift in the front of my truck and I have 1.5 inch blocks and add-a-leafs and the front sits 1 inch higher than the rear. If you like the rear being higher than the rear, both will be fine. If you want the rear end more lever or a little lower, go with just the blocks since the add-a-leaves make things a bit stiffer in the rear. See here for yourself

If you want to save some money on shocks but still get something that is pretty good I would suggest trailmaster's new shocks...A guy that owns a local 4WD center here swears for the price they cant be beat. He was telling me about their new valving they are using...Now I dont have them so I cant say from personal experience, but he is a good guy and is honest. I would have went with them if I had not already bought my Edelbrocks.
