Question i've got a question about tire fitment but i don't think it's been asked 1000 times

more than likely i'll be getting a lift in the next month or so (at least a 3" body lift) but i'm looking at getting some new tires now. is there any way i can temporarily fit 285/70/16's on my 2wd truck til the lift? would coil spacers in the front take care of the rub until i can get the lift. if i have a little rub i can use it as an excuse (to my wife) to get the lift sooner (always thinkin ). any suggestions are appreciated (trimming, anything). thanks
