Jacking the front

I'm new to the F150, just bought my 1998 Supercab 4x4 about a week ago.

Underneath I see two possibilities for jacking up the front of the truck with a floor jack. One is a crossmember just in front of the front differential, the other is a bar that looks like it is frame mounted and holds suspension components in place that is behind the front diff.

Which one is the correct place to jack? I love body-on-frame vehicles for this, unibody is a PITA to jack correctly. Too easy to bend those flimsy rails along the sides of the car (been there, done that).

Cross member only. If you only need to lift up one side, you could lift on the end of the cross member too.

The "bar" sounds like the torsion bar and you don't want to get near that with a jack.

Good luck!

In my owners manual it said to use the tab they have sticking out the front of the lower A-arm. That is what I used.
