Question Lift Height on Tire Size 305/45/22

Ok, I installed some Kumho 305/45/22 tires early last week. I crawled under to take a closer look and had about 1 - 1 1/2 " clear ance at the closes point in the front. On Sunday crawled under and seen wear spots on the frame. Big rub (3" tall 1"wide) on the driver side and dime sized on the passenger. Looks like the tires are rubbing on sharp turns. My question is will a lift/level kit fix this rubbing? Also, someone told me there maybe be a way to reduce the steering radius in the steering box so that the tires would not turn as much, IS this true?

Is there a way to stop this and keep these tires?
One shop told me his rubs some, but it is no big deal/ no harm?

Thanks, Dave E.

Too big of a tire for a stock truck (those are 12x33). What size wheels are you running?

Well took my truck to the shop. They tried all sorts off lifts and angles, but to no avail the tires are still rubbing the frame. It appears that the rims are 22 x 12 not 22 x 9.5? The shop guy suggested the following:

1. 1/2" - 2" Wheel Spacers, look may suffer
2. Try a 305/40/22, no guarantees
3. New Rims!!

I will try the 1/2" spacers, but really hate the wheels sticking outside the fender wells.

Tires are going to run $1400.

May just try to sell these rims, and look for the 22 x 9.5

Does anyone have comments or suggestions?

I can not find the MT-100 rims at this measurement, so what would this fit, or how were these made?
22 x 12 ??

It sound like they are barely rubbing. If it took a few days to notice it can't be rubbing too bad. If all they are doing is touching the frame on sharp turns, is it really a problem? I know the stock tires on my last patrol car rubbed if you hit a small bump while the steering was turned to lock. If it's not rubbing to the point of damaging a tire or the truck, I wouln't worry about it.

Well I tried to pick soem spacers, but the guy at the shop said they only come in 5/16 and did not recommend double up. He said get the tires off ASAP because they will destroy the computer and gears etc? I know the speedometer is off and there is a little less torque than before, but I called my local dealer to upgrade from 3.55 to a 4.10 rear end.

What other damages could be happening here?

Also, I did notice that on tirerack.com they sell 22" rims with 305/40, so I may just change the front end. Why would a small diameter help, I thought the problem was width?

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Dave.

I've got 305/45/22's, except I got Nitto's. Yeah, the tires rub on the frame, but nothing much. It's only with the wheel turned all the way, which is only in parking situations earlier. It doesn't ruin anything (been running them for a year). There's no computer wires or anything it gets close to so I don't know how it would mess up the computer. And, oddly enough, I think my speedo is correct. I've checked those "Your speed is: " to what my speedo says and they always match up perfect.

And if I was having problems with these tires, I would be putting on a drop. I just put on 2 inch drop shackles, and it evened everything out. It's going to be a close close fit, but I'm gonna put on some 2 inch springs and 2 inch hangers.

Yeah Sporkdevil, that's just all part of running aftermarket wheels and tires. Most packages are gonna touch or rub just a little. If they don't rub or touch somewhere, I always felt that I should have installed a larger or wider tire!
