improving ride with shocks
I'm switching from stock P235 70/R16 tires to taller stiffer rubber probably either LT 235 85/R16 or LT 265 75/R16.
I know the LTs will ride more harshly but was wondering if changing the shocks would help any. All travel is city/highway roads.
Truck is 1998 150 4x4. Has a pretty stiff ride already. Shocks are still original, only 51,000 miles but since I'm swapping rubber it's already past time to switch out the shocks.
I don't really mind the ride but don't know if shocks can make a difference when switching from P to LT tires.
Thanks
Mark

Mark-
At that mileage, your shocks have seen better days. Yes, a high quality shock will help your ride with either tire vs worn out shocks. There are a million opinions on shock brands. Personally, I bought Rancho RS9000 adjustable shocks on my last truck and felt the improvement immediately. They were overbuilt and I enjoyed the ability to tinker with the adjustment.

I don't think it will change the ride quality the way you are asking.
Shocks are only a damper, it's the tire that determines the harsh ride.
Better shocks will reduce roll in corners, and reduce rear end bounching. The drive will feel more stable because it is.
