Front Susp. with Winch?
Hey all,
I have been a "lurker" on this board for quite some time, and I find it very informative. I used to belong to the Jeeps Unlimited Forum and know how many problems can be solved by helpful owners of the same vehicle.
My question is this:
2001 F150 Offroad and Tow Package
I just installed my Ramsey winch on a "home-made" hidden winch mount up front.
Do I need to upgrade my torsion bars to compensate for the weight of the winch? Or is my current suspension strong enough?
Thanks for any and all advice, and it is good to be posting again!
James

Thanks for asking. Forgot to put that info in the first post....
It is a Ramsey 9000lb winch with home fabbed mount. The two together weigh about 100 to 115 lbs.
I havent noticed any REAL ill-effects yet. The only thing I have noticed is that the overall ride of the truck is more "squishy" on the front than it was before. Not too bad considering it was quite hard when stock. I'm mainly concerned with the long term effects of the added weight.
Thanks again,
James
