Question Supercrew: Lift front or drop rear?

Curious what options I have to level out the suspension. I don't like the way the rear sits so much higher than the front end. I think I would prefer lifting the front a little versus dropping the rear. Can I do it just by adjusting torsion? I will still do occasional towing (3500 lb boat). Other than that, I may tow a UHaul at 5-6k lbs every 3 years (military). Are there certain suspension mods to avoid? Thanks

If you have a 4x4, you can adjust the torsion bars to increase the front ride height. If you have a 4x2, you can add coil spring spacers, lift coils or lift spindles to increase the front ride height.

If you have a 4X2 I say go with the lift spindles.

Are there any side effects to lifting with the torsion bars?

Do you have to get the front end aligned afterwards?

Yes you need to get the front end re-aligned.

The side effects of cranking the torsion bars are: rougher ride, and more stress on the torsion bars.

If you do crank them, I don't believe you have to get the alignment right away.

My alignment seemed to be fine on my '97 after cranking them. I'm sure it needed one, but it was still fine to drive.
