Question difference on LIFT BRANDS?

Aside from preference/popularity..

is there a big differeecne between say RANCHO, Sky Jacker, Fabtech..etc

are they all the same..or is quality and performance noticably different?

i have also heard that 4" in one kit is not the same as 4" in a different kit..

Hello avirtualbeing,

I have a 2000 4x4 and have done extensive research on a 4" lift for my truck. The Rancho seams to have the most heavy duty, solid design, they are not all the same. Also the Rancho lift is more of a level lift than some of the others you mentioned, most others lift the front-end higher than the rear (pre-runner style) which is not for everyone, just my two cents.

P.S.- I go up to Mammoth Lakes or Bridgeport a few times a year where do you live? The Sierra's are great, wish I lived up there!

avirtualbeing,

Laguna Niguel is in Orange County a few miles from the beach, anyway. The 4" Rancho with 33/12.50 16's or 17's is the way to go. Here is excellent snow, mud all terrain tire, it comes in LT305/70R16 (33/12.5-16) the Cooper Discoverer ST, check it out.

Lift Kits

rkjerue, I agree about the Rancho system being at the top of the line for most lift kits, but the top quality is RCD (Race Car Dynamis). They're owned, I believe, by Rancho's old chief engineer. They are a little more $$, but the quality is the best. I didn't get RCD for my truck, because they had not yet designed a kit for an Expedition when I got mine in 1998. I have a Rancho system plus some other significant custom mods and love it!! Just my 2 cents worth. Let us know what you end up doing.
