How to use a grease gun needle
I got a pack of two needles at Napa. The end of the needle has a zerk fitting that just pops into the grease gun tip. Slip the needle under the boot when you can. I dont go through the trouble of trying to seal the pucture w/ silicone. I let it ooze out and wipe the excess.
Good luck.
Good luck.
I used a grease needle on my '97 f-150 offroad (131,000 miles on trade-in). My front CV's never chirped or sqweeled like several other trucks like mine. I now own an '01 supercrew and I use one on it. Couple of hints 1) insert needle on bottom of the boot (this is so that water won't run into the hole by gravity). 2) Insert the needle at the outermost part of the boot corrigation (so that if you happen to tread in water over your boot the air in the boot will most likely prevent water from entering by retaining the air inside) 3) Insert the needle at an angle as to form a lip or flap that will most likely lay back into place when the needle is removed. 4) Insert and remove carefully just as if it were your arm so that the puncture will be minimal.
