Torsion Bars
AbramsM1/SSG, Yes, I'm a Navy O-5, but I greatly appreciate all of what you and your bubbas are doing over there for us. Stay safe and tell your Team to keep up the great work. Email me whaen you get home if you need any help with mods.
Hey guys, got a couple of torsion bar tips for you since I just finished my Rancho lift last weekend...
No they are not...The SuperCrew's are shorter by about 4-7 inches (I think...Not positive I got the number right) Go measure them on one if you like.
Not necessiarily. I would try removing the adjustment bolt all the way before you run out and spend money on special tools. My bars came right out without any additional tools. The bars, from the factory, did not have enough 'twist' in them to require this on my truck. Now this may be because of the shorter bars on the SuperCrew, or maybe just my luck, but it's not a definate. And if you do need them, a two prong gear puller for $6 from Autozone works as good as any special tool.
Yes, this is a good idea, but don't sweat it if you loose your mark or something (like I did
) The hexagon things at each end are of the same offset every other flat. In other words, if you slide it into position and it doesn't work or seem right, just turn it one flat and try again. Should be good to go. I tried this on every flat on the bar to insure it was right and found every other one to be of the same setting.
Just trying to offer up what I've experienced. Hope it helps. BTW, I'm a C-5 (notice my user name...no, it's not the car) driver with a couple landings in Baghdad myself, and a few more on the way. It's pretty cool meeting fellow military guys on here. See you guys around and be safe.
The Expy and F150s that have torsion bars are all the same length
You need special tools to remove the bars
you're supposed to mark them to ensure you re-install
them exactly how they were before removal
them exactly how they were before removal

Torsion Bars
Galaxy bubba, Thaks for the additional info. I don't know about a 4 door supercrew, but I'd ask the Ford parts guys if the lengths are different. If they are, then I'd check to see if the Spring Code 7's are on the snow plow versions of the supercrews too. Let us know what you find out. Be safe out there too and thanks for supplying our guys!!
More Screw Torsion questions
So....
Is there another spring code for the SuperCrews torsion bar equivalent to the 7. 02 4x4, should be able to install the snow plow package, just need a number, Especially if they are different lengths.
Thoughts...
