Squeaky Steering

I need a few opinions on a noise that occurs when turning the wheels when not moving such as when parking. After the truck has been sitting and is cold it makes LOUD squeaking noise when turning the wheels. Was lubed at last oil change and lower ball joints and end links are new, less than 20k. Not sure what to look at next all help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to the club. Almost every 97+ F150 thats more than a year old seems to do it. The problem is Ford wonderful greased for lift parts which aren't greased for life The problem is your pitman arm. Unless you wanna replace it (required renting a puller tool and removing the steering box from the frame) you get to try and grease it every oil change or so. This doesn't work on all trucks so it might not do much for you. Buy a needle attachment for your grease gun and use that to inject grease into the boot on the pitman arm. Then work the steering back and forth and if need be, inject a little more. Then after you're done I'd recommend sealing the hole you made with the needle attachment with some silicone.

This squeaking would be the famous PITMAN arm without a grease fitting the FORD puts on the F150's.

These things go bad after like 8,000 miles

The Pitman arm is located at the end of the steering column, it is about the largest item in the steering assembly. To get a better idea go to:
