SportF150-4x4,

That's a pretty good price on those. Did you have to pay shipping too? Mine where $162 out the door, but I had them the same day.... I'm still really glad I got them. They are worth twice that to me, just for the fact that when I loaded up the truck at my Old Man's place with some dirt, the truck didn't go to the stops! He'd still be laughing if that had happened!!

Unhappy

Do any of you know if Hellwig still makes the air bladder/bag sysytem, it really made by Firestone, had them on my 97. The main purpose for them was I pulled a 31' TT and 25# of air in them leveled the truck/trailer beautiful, also had the small built in compressor.
Just something to think about, with the air bags you can adjust to what you haul or tow, plus it wasn't much more in price either.

Has anyone used these things during any serious offroading? I was going to get a similar product, but the local 4x4 shop said they will fall off and cause problems if you get offroad in the rough stuff. (?)

Good question. I didn't really think about that, but I don't really do any "serious" wheeln' anyway. I suppose you could just remove the U bolts on the ends that actually hold the tension on the spring. But, if you where to bottom the rear suspension the overloads could hit the bottom of the bed, since they won't compress either..... When the suspension is "unloaded" (flying off a jump for example), the U bolts would loose tension, so they could come off if banged around enough I suppose.

I guess you just have to pick your "poison" on what you do more. Haul/tow or offroad, then modify as necessary.....

Smile Some fine tuning needed for Off roading

MitchF150,

I got them on a week ago and went to Northern Michigan for a week of vacation. I found that it took me several times on two tracks and gravel wash board roads to get the tension balanced on the springs so that they wouldn't rattle. When I had them all set, I sure found that the ride over rough road was really improved over previous years. I don't go nuts in my truck, but overall it seemed more stable on back roads. I tightened them down to about 2" of space on each end for my best overall ride. I agree with you they do make it a little stiffer, but there is also less body roll through corners. I did really like being able to load up with all the wife, kids, and gear without the headlights just catching the tree tops.

Thanks so much for posting your opinion on these springs.

Maybe im just passing over it in your posts, but what exactly did you get for your truck from macssprings? I am going to buy these when i get a little more info from them, but i dont know exactly what to get. Thanks for your help so far!

Also, i just got back from michigan yesterday night and i just came back online today and was all confused when i saw the new setup! Im in a hurry now, so i dont have time to play with all the new buttons we get, but it looks a little easier for posting pictures and stuff. oh well

Barto24,

Just like MitchF150 I bougth the LP-25 progressive load springs. In some of their web pages it talks about Kit 2500. There are both springs and adapters. You will notice in the picture that there are three springs and one bridging piece for over the current U-bolts. I got them in about 6 days.

I ended up ordering over the phone instead of using the web site so that I knew they would ship from stock. There was no additional shipping cost due to their free shipping which I think is over $100. Make sure you give yourself a full hour or two in case you come into some complications like I did. My springs were a little shifted on one end that made it difficult to get the back end on. Make sure you keep everything really loose before you start tightening them up.

I spent more time this week testing the new corning capabilities of the truck. I am really liking not having the body roll like before.

This like will take you directly to the page with the LP-25's:

Cool Sport150-4x4

You're welcome and I'm glad they are doing for you what you wanted. I didn't think about the body roll part all that much, I just figured that was because I'm not 6" off the ground anymore. (I owned an 86 GT 5.0 before the F150)

And I really haven't been on the wash board type roads yet either. Just RR crossings and expansion joints on the highway. Mine are still quiet, but every now and then I'll hear a small rattle if I hit a pot hole. I've got mine set so that only a couple of threads show on the U bolts after the second nut. If it becomes more of a problem, I'll just crank on them a few more turns.

I did drive the truck over a small hill with just the left front tire so the suspension would be "twisted". It lowered the right rear and pulled the left rear up. The left U bolts were very loose at that point. I have since put on some of those plastic "zip ties" to hold the brackets in place. Not a very strong solution, but I'm trying to think of another one that will work, but not make it look bad. I thought about hose clamps, but that would look really bad.....

Thanks for all your help so far guys, but before i buy i have 1 more question. A while ago on here i read that when you get the ORP you have 3" leafs i think, and if you dont have the ORP you have 2 1/2 inch ones. He was not sure, but i know that would mess up the kit if I got it because i have 4X4 but no ORP, i dont knwo if you guys have the ORP or not or know if this is true. Thanks again

Arrow No ORP

Mine is not an ORP (has the sticker, however) and my leafs are 2.5 inches.

Not really sure if that's true for the ORP having 3" springs? I doubt it. All that ever seems to come up about the ORP package is the skid plates, 17" wheels and the sticker. It was only a $200 option or something like that.
