Hey guys I need some help. I have a 2000 4x4 expy and am getting a poping noise coming from the front left side when I am turning. It occurs when backing up and moving forward. I am taking it into the shop next week. But I want to kow whatit might be??? Please help

 

The only thing I can think of is a ruined CV joint. It would be easy enough to drop under the front left and check out your boot. However, I think the sound of a bad CV joint resembles a clicking more than a popping, if such a distinguishment can be made.

One of the great joys of owning a truck (or I guess a large SUV in some cases) is the ability to check under the engine and drive train. I'm under there at least once a week, can see the boots, brake lines, etc. etc.
